Iran Press/ America: A new Economist/YouGov poll conducted June 3-6 shows 48 percent of independent voters think Biden's age and declining health 'severely limits' him, and only 8 percent of this same voting bloc think his age isn't a factor.
Additionally, a whopping 77 percent of Republicans think age is limiting the president, along with just 13 percent of Democrats.
Fifty-six percent of Democrats felt his octogenarian status has somewhat of an effect on his performance in office.
Of the nearly 1,500 people surveyed, 45 percent believed Biden's age is impacting his ability to do the job.
Fifty-one-year-old presidential hopeful Nikki Haley, a former Ambassador to the United Nations under President Trump, has proposed that there be a 75-year-old age limit set for those wishing to run for U.S. president.
The two frontrunners in the 2024 presidential election – Biden and Trump – are both above that age range, 80 and 76 respectively.
Trump's main competitor in the Republican primary race is Ron DeSantis, 44, but the Florida governor still sits at least 20 points behind the former president in most national polling.
Biden is the oldest-ever person elected President of the United States and if reelected would break his own record by being the oldest president at the date of inauguration.
There are several political leaders in the U.S. who are elderly, including Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, 72, and Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, 81.
