MP: Iran welcomes shore-up of ties with Syria

Syria (IP) - Vice-chairman of Iranian Parliament's Iran-Syria Friendship Group says his country welcomes boosting relations with Syria in various areas.

Iran PressMiddle East: Meeting with the Syrian Foreign Minister in Damascus, Abbas Golroo, said that Iran believed that reinforcing the commonalities and trade ties with Syria could strengthen the two counties against the US sanctions. 

"The implementation of agreements and joint cooperation is very important in the process of strengthening the economic basis of the two countries, and the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the improvement of relations with Syria in various fields," Golroo noted.

For his part, Syria's Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad stressed the implementation of the bilateral agreements for strengthening Iran-Syria ties and welcomed it.

Also elaborating on recent developments in the region, Mekdad emphasized the vigilance and consultations between the two countries officials.

The Syrian Foreign Minister appreciated Iran's constant supports for his country in the fight against terrorism and extremism, adding: "Syria has come out of the crisis and it is time to rebuild its infrastructure, and we welcome the support of friendly countries for economic and trade cooperation."
