Iran Press/ Iran news: In response to recent British governments threats to take some action against Iran, Iranian MP and deputy of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission downplayed these measures, stressing that Iran has the basic right to self-defence in relation to any aggressive measure or behaviour.
In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Sunday, Kamal Dehghani Firouzabadi, deputy of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran's Parliament (Majlis) said: "Absolutely the diplomatic approach is the best one to resolve all issues but Iran is not afraid of any military threats; these threats, including military threats and economic sanctions have been tested and tried in vain before against Iran, but failed to work."

"The right way to engage with Iran is to consider it as an independent country; they have to abandon their traditional ways of unilateralism in the international politics and acknowledge that all countries have an equal right in the international arena and all countries have a right to look after their own interests", he said.
The Iranian MP added: "International laws and bilateral and multilateral accords and treaties are in place in global community; they violated these rules and broke their commitments and, improperly interfered in other countries' internal affairs and the last example is seizure of Iranian oil tanker [in Gibraltar]".
"Iranian oil tankers are free to go [legally] anywhere we want and we are capable of exporting our oil to any country [that buys our oil] and no one has the right to disrupt and disturb or seize our tankers," he said, adding: "This is an obvious and flagrant example of an act of piracy in the High Seas and the Islamic Republic of Iran has the right to counteract and we do it decisively because the right to counteract is the main principle to guarantee international laws and mutual affairs".
