Tehran (IP) - Minister of Defense upon his arrival in India and told reporters that the relationship between Tehran and New Delhi was of special importance.

Iran Press/Asia: Brigadier General Amir Hatami arrived in Bangalore, India at the official invitation of the Indian Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh to attend the Indian Ocean Defense Ministers' Summit.

"India and Iran are important in the region and have had stable relations for many years," he told reporters.

He said that good cooperation has been established between Iran and India due to historical and cultural commonalities and international commonalities, noting that “the relationship between the two countries is of special importance due to the long coasts of India and also due to the strategic position of Iran, especially in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and on the shores of the Indian Ocean.”

Amir Hatami pointed out: "The connection of the Indian Ocean with the South-North Corridor and the connection to the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus are areas that require us to pursue more developed relations."

In addition to meeting with his counterpart and other high-ranking political and military officials, Brigadier General Hatami will address the Indian Ocean Defense Ministerial Summit."

Iran’s Minister of Defense will also participate in the opening of the air equipment exhibition in Bangalore.
