Tehran (IP) - Iran's President said membership in the BRICS group was one of the unfinished cases in Iran's foreign policy which was done fully in the current administration.

Iran PressIran news: Upon his arrival in Tehran from his three-day trip to South Africa on Friday, Iran's President held a presser on his trip and achievements. 

Emphasizing on the balanced foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi told the press that Iran faces unfinished cases one of which is the neutralization of sanctions on the Iranian nation and addressing defected ties with some of the neighboring countries. 

He said the issue was partly pursued by the membership of the country in such transregional organizations as BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization. 

President Raisi said that the membership of Iran in BRICS is not an accidental issue nor a privilege for internal partisan competitions, but to ensure the benefit of the Iranian nation. 

He referred to BRICS as a forum where the independent countries enhance their cooperation for shoring up especially their economic ties through such mechanisms as the BRICS fund, which in turn would lead to strengthening the resilient economy in Iran against the West's sanctions. 

The Iranian president highlighted the anti-colonialism soul spread across Africa, especially the anti-apartheid soul, which brings Iran and the countries closer to each other to strengthen their economy and the fight against colonialism.  

Pres. Raisi comes back to Tehran after BRICS summit

Iran's President arrived in Tehran from his three-day trip to South Africa, while bringing the full membership of the country in the BRICS group. 

Iran's President left Tehran for South Africa's Johannesburg on Wednesday evening to take part in the 15th edition of the BRICS Summit.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Thursday that the BRICS member states agreed to admit Iran, Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia as full members. 

Before his departure to South Africa on Wednesday evening, Ebrahim Raisi said in a presser that his visit was aimed at taking part in the BRICS Summit and declaring the foreign policy positions of the Islamic Republic.
