Iran Press/Iran news: "Iraqi pilgrims can also use this new rail link," said the head of the foreign ministry's delegation to the northeast of Iran, Gholam Abbas Arbab Khales on Wednesday.
Arbab Khales was speaking at the signing ceremony for the first ever train service from Karbala to Mashhad.
According to an Iran Press report, Arbab Khales said the rail transport system is cheaper and safer for passengers, and after the completion of the first phase of the project, 360 pilgrims will be able to journey from Karbala to Mashhad per week.
The head of the foreign ministry's delegation to the northeast of Iran also confirmed that the Iran-Turkey 'Mashhad-Van' train will be operational soon so that Turkish Shia Muslims who wish to make a pilgrimage to Imam Reza's (PBUH) shrine in Mashhad will be able to use this facility. 208/211/103
