Iran Press/Iran news: Addressing the farewell ceremony for the outgoing head of Basij volunteer organization, part of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami said: "Basij volunteers are a huge organisation, Basij volunteers open up new horizons and create values. The dignity and grandeur of the Islamic revolution is guaranteed by Basij which resists the arrogant powers and defends Islamic values."
According to Iran press, elsewhere in his remarks Major General Salami said: "We want to conquer peaks of Science and Technology with Basij volunteers, we want to spread Islamic values through Basij, we want to renew the spirit of resistance and resilience in the world of Islam through Basij, we want to change global equations and dash the hopes of the enemy through Basij, we want to break the arrogant powers through Basij, we want to advance and become the leading scientific and technological nation of the world through the efforts of our Basij volunteers."
Turning to the arrogant powers, the top commander of the IRGC said: "Today the Iranian nation is defeating a huge materialistic empire in the world, and Basij volunteers are literally changing the balance of power in the world, defeating the arrogant powers, and leaving their intricate web of lies and deceit in tatters. The Islamic revolution is justly proud of Basij volunteers."
Commenting further Salami said: "Basij fights poverty and deprivation. Basij sympathises with the people. Basij gives hope to the masses and brings calm to people's lives."
