Birjand (IP) – Birjand is the capital of South Khorasan province, in the east of Iran, and is known for its saffron, barberry, and jujube, in addition to handmade carpet exports.

Iran PressIran News: Handicrafts is one of the arts of the ancient Iranian people who created various products that enjoy global fame.

Traveling to any part of Iran, tourists will get familiar with the local handicraft art of the people of each province, which is indicative of their history and civilization, such as what they will find in South Khorasan province, east of Iran.

Pottery, Jajim weaving, carpet weaving, Kalamkari (a type of hand-painted cotton textile), mat weaving, and traditional embroidery are the most important handicrafts in the rural areas of South Khorasan province.

Pottery is a live art in in Birjand (the capital of South Khorasan) and various pottery products are made by the Khorasani artists.

Bark-weaving (weaving a type of thick fabric) the origin of which goes back to the Seljuk dynasty in Iran. The bark is made up of camel's wool or goat's hair.

The color of Bark is natural, that is brown, black, and white.
