Iran Press/ Iran news: During the meeting, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, called for the expansion of relations between the two countries and said: "The policy of the Islamic Republic is to expand relations with neighboring countries, and this is a completely correct policy."
Emphasizing that the passage of obstacles depends on the serious determination of the two countries to expand relations, he added: "Of course, the friendly relations between Iran and Turkmenistan have regional and international opponents, but the two countries can remove these obstacles with a serious will."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution emphasized: "The Joint Cooperation Commission between the two countries should be seriously active, and the agreements should be finalized with continuous follow-up."
The President of Turkmenistan, for his part, said: "The priority of the Turkmen government is to expand relations with neighbors, and according to the cooperation documents signed today, we try to establish good relations between the two countries in various fields, especially gas, electricity, transition, as well as the implementation of major projects." Referring to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the President of Turkmenistan addressed the Supreme Leader of the Revolution and said: "Speaking for the people of Turkmenistan and myself, I thank you for your constant support in deepening Iran-Turkmenistan relations."
The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov arrived in Tehran yesterday evening (Tuesday) with a political-economic delegation, welcomed by Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi.
Bilateral meetings, the signing of intergovernmental documents, and a press conference are among Berdymukhamedov's two-day visit to Tehran.
This is Berdymukhamedov's first visit to Tehran as President of Turkmenistan, and he had previously arrived in Iran on January 9, 2022, as a special envoy of the then President.
The official welcoming ceremony of the President of Turkmenistan was held in the cultural and historical complex of Sa'adabad with the presence of the Iranian President.
