Indian-controlled Kashmir is witnessing a wave of student protests against the killing of civilians by Indian forces. Kashmiri authorities have banned private educational institutions for three months to contain the protests, but to no avail.

Over the past three weeks ,Kashmir  has been the scene of massive student protest against a spate  of civilian killings by the Indian military and security forces. The angry students also demand justice for an 8 year Muslim girl who  was locked in the Hindu shrine ,drugged and gang raped for several days   and  bludgeoned to death with stone.

Jamu and Kashmir education minister Altaf Bukhari has ordered closure of all privet educational institution  for 90 days in a bid to contain the protests. His decision though has been widely criticised by different  organizations.

Junaid Yusuf, president of private tuition centers association, commenting on the decision, said:  "This year has been opened  for  less than 20 days. So students depend on private tuition centers .There is no point to banning them, the government has to reconsider its decision."

Because of the protests, scores of students have been injured in clashes with government security forces in Southern Kashmir.
