Iran Press/ Iran News: The city of Mehran in the south of Ilam province, western Iran, which was occupied by Former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hossein's Ba'athist regime in Iraq during the eight-year war with Iran, was finally liberated with the resistance of Iranian fighters.
On July 1, 1986, the Iranian Army in a rare operation liberated the border town of Mehran from Saddam's Ba'athist occupation.
To commemorate the resistance of Iranian fighters liberating Mehran from Saddam's army grips, a memorial has been organized in the Mehran border region. Mehran is located near the Iraqi border and today is one of the main borders for passenger traffic and the export of Iranian goods. 207
