Iran Press/ Europe: Following the closure of the Whirlpool factory in Naples, nearly 350 fired workers staged anti-US demonstrations in Rome.
Angry demonstrators said the group's leaders had signed an agreement with the Italian government two years ago to pledge not to shut down the Whirlpool factory, but they did not keep their word.
The demonstration was held in front of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, 100 meters from the US Embassy in Rome. Italian police blocked the streets leading to the US embassy to prevent protesters from approaching the embassy.
According to the protesting workers, the American management of Whirlpool intends to lay off about 5,000 other workers working in various Italian cities.
