Iran Press/ Europe: Following the Italian farmers' protests against the EU agriculture policies, on Friday evening, a number of protesting Italian farmers, representing other farmers, entered the central streets of the Italian capital with tractors while accompanied by the police.
Three Italian farmers also made an interview with the Iran Press correspondent in Rome, protesting against the wrong regulations of the EU for protecting the environment.
Diesel price hikes, green regulations, reduction of subsidies, and unfair competition due to the import of cheap agricultural products from countries outside the European Union were the important reasons for the farmers' protest.
Meanwhile, the Italian government announced that it would do the best of its ability to improve the situation of farmers. Yet, the farmers stressed the continuation of their protests.
On Friday night, angry Italian farmers blocked one of the highways on the outskirts of Rome with more than 400 tractors for several hours.
During the past three weeks, farmers in many European countries, including Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, Poland, and Romania, blocked a number of roads and highways with their tractors, protesting the difficult living conditions.
