Commentary (IP) - In a 2022 report, the European Union called the year the worst in terms of the Israeli regime's destruction of Palestinians' homes in the West Bank and east Al-Quds.

Iran PressCommentary: Every March 30, Palestinians celebrate "Land Day" to honor those who fight against foreign oppression. On that date, the Israeli occupation forces murdered six Palestinians who were holding a non-violent protest in 1976.

On the eve of the day that keeps alive the memory of the Palestinians who fight against the theft of their land, the European Union (EU) released a report showing that Israeli authorities demolished 953 Palestinian homes in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 2022.

Since 1948, settlement construction has been the most important strategy of the Israeli regime's occupation of Palestine.

Through the strategy, the regime has invaded the important point of Palestine in terms of natural resources, strategic geography, access to the sea, etc. to construct settlements for the Zionist settlers as well as the migrant ones.

At least 250 towns have been created across the West Bank and east Al-Quds, by the regime that accommodated 600 to 750 Israeli settlers.

As the European Union's report in 2022 explains, the Israeli regime destroyed 953 homes belonging to the Palestinian people; the regime demolished most of the homes under the pretext that they lacked construction permission!

The union noted that 101 homes Israel destroyed had been rebuilt with the help of the European Union with 337,000 euros, and that was the EU's third largest financial loss since 2016.

The almost daily raids on Palestinians and the clashes that erupted between them also contributed to the Israeli devastation of the people living in the West Bank, especially in Nablus and Jenin. The attacks led to the martyrdom of many Palestinians.

In addition, the Zionist regime launched a three-day war on the Gaza Strip last summer, in which at least 49 Palestinians, including 17 children, were martyred. And the string of the regime's destruction of the Palestinians' homes and confiscation of their lands.

It seems that the routine will continue in 2023, as Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, the two controversial figures in Netanyahu's cabinet, are accused of inciting violence against Palestinians and have publicly announced their intention to expand illegal constructions in the West Bank.

Smotrich had publicly declared that Palestinians were mistakenly in the West Bank and should not be there because Ben Gurion did not finish the work!

Also, Ben-Gvir who previously called for the expelling of the Palestinians from the 1948 occupied lands, emboldened the Zionist settlers to carry out arm attacks against the Palestinian people while frequently criticizing the army for not taking more intensive actions against the people.
