The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) said that one of its reporters was arrested in the Israeli-occupied territories of Palestine.

Why It Matters:

As the Israel-Iran tensions may reignite every now and then due to the hostile policies of the Israeli regime to bring the Islamic Republic into the war waged in the region, the arrest could be a part of the Israeli-cooked plot, in addition to the fact that the arrest is a violation of freedom of the press.

What He Is Saying:

IRIB Head Peyman Jebelli said the detained reporter is not in Gaza and is under arrest in the occupied territories, noting that necessary measures are being taken to release him.

Key Points:

  • Since the beginning of its war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the Israeli regime has killed 205 reporters.
  • 75 journalists have been arrested.
  • 42 remain under arrest.
  • At least 10 are held under administrative detention.
