Iran Press/ Iran news: President of the IRCS Pir-Hossein Kolivand, who is now in Geneva for meetings of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) with the participation of 192 Red Cross societies worldwide, has received the award on behalf of the Iranian society, according to the IRCS Monday report.
The Henry Davison Award was granted to IRCS due to its humanitarian services in critical situations and disasters.
What is the Henry Davison Award? Henry Davison was the founder of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, An international humanitarian organization with 192 members. The Davison Award is one of the most important international and humanitarian awards given to communities that have had significant activities in critical situations. The Red Crescent Society of our country has already received this award.
President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Francesco Rocca, who had attended a ceremony in Tehran to mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Iranian Red Crescent Society on May 8, said the IRCS is among the most national powerful ones and also the most reputable ones in the IFRC network.
On the day, the IRCS celebrated the 100th anniversary of its establishment under the theme of A Century of Sincere Voluntary Service.
Rocca said at the time that the IRCS is in good condition and is one of the top five in the world in responding to crises.
