Tehran (IP) - Iraq's National Security Advisor arrived in Tehran, heading a high-ranking security delegation.

Iran PressIran news: Qasim al-A'araji arrived in Tehran on Monday on the order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces Mohammad Shia al-Sudani to address the issue of Iran-Iraq border security.

In recent years, terrorist groups, with the support of the United States and the Israeli regime, have tried to increase the maximum-security pressure against Iran through terrorist acts, destabilizing the border areas and the surrounding environment.

The delegation is in Iran to examine the measures necessary to repel the separationist terrorist groups carrying out operations against Iran.

An Iraqi security official says that al-Sudani and the Kurdistan Region's authorities are taking extensive measures in order to keep the terrorist groups away from the borders of the two countries while deploying security units affiliated with the Iraqi army on the borders.

During his visit to Tehran, Qasim al-A'arji is scheduled to present the Iranian officials with the measures the Iraqi government has taken to practice control over the borders to persuade Iran not to resume attacks on the border areas against the terrorists.

It was in November 2022, for example, the positions of terrorist outfits in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq were targeted by Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) missile and drone attacks.

On October 8, that year, the IRGC declared that the attack on the terrorists' positions was stopped after the predetermined targets were destroyed, but the continuation of the missile attacks would depend on future behavior.
