Tehran (IP) - The Leader of the Islamic Revolution will receive a group of Iranian teachers on Wednesday, on the occasion of the National Day of Teachers.

Iran PressIran news: May 1 coincides with 12 Ordibehesht in the Persian calendar which marks the day Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari, a cleric university professor and a notable figure in the early stages of Iran’s Islamic Revolution of 1979, was assassinated in Tehran in 1979. 

Teachers from across Iran will gather at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini (RA) Husseiniyah on Wednesday to meet with Ayatollah Khamenei.

The event is one of the annual meetings of the Iranian people with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, which has been held constantly in commemoration of teachers' status.

The martyrdom of the Iranian famous contemporary scholar and philosopher Ayatollah Mortaza Motahari was named the Day of Teachers in Iran.

He was assassinated by the anti-Revolution Forqan terrorist outfit on May 1, 1979.
