Tehran(IP) - All Lebanese parties and groups must arrive at a compromise on the election of a president, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said.

Iran PressIran news: Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has stressed the importance of further ties between the Islamic Republic and Lebanon, particularly in political and economic fields.

Amir-Abdollahian and Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani met in Tehran on Thursday, discussing ties between the two countries as well as the Israeli regime’s aggression against Lebanon.

In the meeting with Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon in Tehran, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian praised the envoy for his hard work and said efforts should continue to strengthen the political and economic relations between the two countries.

He also highlighted Lebanon's position and role in the axis of resistance against the aggressor Zionist regime.

Amir-Abdollahian reiterated that the Lebanese parties and groups need to reach a consensus to elect a president and called on them to expedite the process. “It seems that the countries in the region are also paying attention to this issue and are trying to help resolve it.”

The ambassador briefed the top diplomat on the latest situation in Tehran-Beirut relations.

The minister, on his part, thanked him for his efforts and emphasized the need for further work to promote ties with Beirut, especially in political and economic fields, given the importance of Lebanon and its role in the ongoing resistance against the Israeli regime.

For his part, the ambassador reported on the latest developments in his place of mission as well as bilateral ties between Iran and Lebanon, the Foreign Ministry reported.

Mojtaba Amani also discussed the Zionist regime’s aggression against Lebanon and the Lebanese resistance and people.
