Iran Press/ Europe: Zalava is one of the nine films in the Critics' Week section of the 78th Venice International Film Festival, which opens on September 9.
Set in 1978, the film hones in on the inhabitants of a small village in Iran called Zalava who claim there is a demon among them. Massoud, a young police officer who investigates the claim, encounters an exorcist attempting to rid the village of the demon.
In addition to the movie Zalava the independent section of Venice Critics' Week, organized by the Italian Film Critics Association, will screen 15 other films.
The 78th Venice International Film Festival is organized by La Biennale di Venezia and directed by Alberto Barbera. It will take place at Venice Lido from 1 - 11 September 2021.
The Festival is officially recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Association (FIAPF) to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment, and industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue.
The Festival also organizes retrospectives and tributes to major figures as a contribution towards a better understanding of the history of cinema.
