Damascus (IP) -Iran's Minister of Defense Brigadier General Azizi Nasirzadeh met Syrian President Bashar al-Asad in Damascus to discuss political, and defense issues.

Iran Press/West Asia: In this meeting, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Azizi Nasirzadeh and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad discussed defense and security issues in the region. They focused on strengthening cooperation between their two countries to combat terrorism and dismantle its infrastructure in a manner that promotes stability and security in the region.

Nasirzadeh, who is on a visit to Syria, told reporters on Saturday night that the relations between Tehran and Damascus are developing, and they support each other in critical times.

The Iranian defense chief is visiting Damascus at the invitation of his counterpart Ali Mahmoud Abbas.

Earlier, Syrian Defense Minister General Ali Mahmoud Abbas officially welcomed Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, Iran's Defense Minister, the two sides met on Sunday and discussed issues of interest to the two countries
