Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at the large gathering of people in West Azerbaijan province's Khoy city on Monday, President Hassan Rouhani said, the Iranians will not give in to US pressure but would defend their independence and freedom.
Stating that the United States thought that they could bring Iranian people to their knees through economic pressure, the President said, “We won’t let pressures by the US and its mercenaries to create major problems for the Iranian nation and we will never surrender under any pressure.”
He continued, “We will make all our enemies understand that they will not be able to deviate us from the path of our lofty goals by putting the people under pressure and create economic issues for the people.”
"We will remain independent and free and will not yield to US pressures," said Rouhani, adding, “Those ruling the White House must know that the people of Iran are brave and great and we will not surrender to any power, but only to the Almighty.”
“The enemies are trying to put economic pressure and wage psychological war against the people of Iran. They think that the people will surrender to their bullying under these pressures,” he added.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also said, “The people of Iran must know well that we have been loyal to our commitment. We have never started a dispute or economic war against anybody, but our enemies are trying to avenge the people of Iran due to their consecutive failure in the region.”
President described visiting West Azerbaijan Province and visiting the people of the province a great honour for the officials, adding, “We are all proud of Iran and Azerbaijan as the great stronghold of protecting our great Iran.”
Upon arrival in West Azerbaijan province on Monday, President Hassan Rouhani said, “In this visit, I will visit the people of Khoy who are heroes and brave and noble border guards.”
“In addition, several projects, including a 220-bed hospital and Urmia railroad project, will be opened,” added the President. 101/202
