Iran Press/Iran news: In a meeting with Chairman of the Serbian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Zarko Obradovic in Tehran on Wednesday, Ali Larijani said the 'independence spirit' policy of Serbia is attractive to Iran.
"Countries dominated by the US won't have a good fate and are doomed to pay a huge cost in the future,” Larijani said.
According to an Iran Press report, the Speaker of Iran's Parliament pointed to US moves against Tehran, adding that with imposition of more sanctions, Washington is seeking to ratchet up the pressure, but the Iranian people will resist.
The Serbian lawmaker, for his part, pointed to bilateral relations between Iran and Serbia and hailed the high level of parliamentary and political ties among the two countries.
Zarko Obradovic said level of economic cooperation between the two countries is not enough and called for boosting of trade ties.
Iran and Serbia have recently ramped up efforts to boost their bilateral relations.
Serbia's ambassador to Tehran, Dragan Todorovic on May 13 said the volume of trade between Iran and Serbia has increased by 150 percent during the past year.
In June 2018, Iran and Serbia inked three memoranda of understanding on mutual cooperation during the 15th session of their joint economic commission, in the Serbian capital, Belgrade. 213/211/205
