Tehran (IP) – In the wake of the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas' political bureau, Iran has vowed to take decisive action against Israel, according to a senior Hamas representative in Tehran.

Iran PressIran news: In an interview with Iranian media, Khaled Qaddoumi, the Hamas envoy to Tehran, revealed that Iran's leadership is preparing a "definite and decisive" response to Israel's killing of Haniyeh. The retaliation, he emphasized, will be carried out at a "substantial level."

Qaddoumi detailed recent communications between Iranian officials and Hamas leaders, stating that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian personally assured Khalil al-Hayya, the deputy head of Hamas’ political bureau in Gaza, that Iran's response would be nothing short of decisive. The president made it clear that any retaliation would have to match the gravity of Haniyeh’s assassination.

Iran's Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, has also reinforced this stance in recent discussions with Hamas officials, underlining that Iran's response will be "definite, decisive, and different in kind and manner."

Qaddoumi pointed out that history has shown Israel's tendency to escalate its actions if left unchecked. He criticized the lack of diplomatic pressure on Israel, particularly from the United States, suggesting that this absence of international accountability is emboldening Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to continue his policies of aggression.

"The most important reason why a criminal like Netanyahu continues his genocide is the lack of diplomatic pressure from the United States," Qaddoumi stated, expressing regret that Israel is not facing significant opposition from other nations in the region or globally.
