Following the meeting with the UN Iraq Special Representative Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, Iranian ambassador to Baghdad said that in talks with the UN envoy, both sides stressed that the Iraqi elections should be held on time."

Iran Press/ Middle East: Iraj Masjedi added that the UN envoy had questions about the Presidential Election in Iran, Iran's President-elect Ebrahim Raisi as well as the formation of the new government.

Masjedi continued: "We support the security of Iraq, the holding of elections and the vote of the people as well as security and stability in the country."

Iraq's early Parliamentary Elections are scheduled to be held in October 2021.
