Iran Press/Iran News: According to the agreement signed on Saturday by Iran Minsters of Energy Reza Ardakanian and Syria's Minister of Electricity Mohammad Zuhair Kharboutli in Tehran, the capital of Iran, the two sides will co-operate in the areas of electricity transmission and distribution, reducing electricity losses, synchronizing the Syrian electricity grid to Iran via Iraqi network, building and reconstructing a power plant in Syria, as well as training and developing Syrian manpower.
According to Iran Press, in this ceremony, Reza Ardakanian emphasized Iran's support for Syria on the fight against terrorist groups and announced Iran's readiness to comprehensively help Syria's reconstruction and development.
Syria's Minister of Electricity Mohammad Zuhair Kharboutli, for his part, described the two countries' cooperation as deep and progressive, saying that Syria never forgets Iran's economic, security and political support during tough times.
Referring to the terrorists' damages to Syria's infrastructures Kharboutli said that as a result of the terrorist attacks, 50% of the electricity and power plant infrastructures as well as the Syrian transmission lines have been damaged, expressing hope that the hurt infrastructures are reconstructed with the help of Iranian experts and localization of their capabilities in Syria.
The Syrian minister of electricity highlighted the role of the Iranian experts in Latakia's power plant, west of Syria and stressed the increasing bilateral cooperation of Iran and Syria.101/219
