Tehran (IP) - Iran supports international efforts to establish peace and security on the borders of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, the International Director General of Iran's parliament said.

Iran Press/ Iran news: The second war between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan began on September 27, 2020, in the disputed region of Karabakh and ended after 44 days with the mediation of Russia and the signing of an agreement on November 10, in which parts of Karabakh handed over to Baku.

However, there are still disputes over the demarcation of the border between Yerevan and Baku, which causes military clashes between the two countries on the borders, and each accuses the other of violating the ceasefire.

On Saturday, Kazem Shafei, Director General of International Affairs of the parliament, in a meeting with Arsen Avakian, the Armenian ambassador in Tehran, added: "Iran's positions are friendly towards its neighbors and cooperation with neighboring countries, including Armenia, is possible in all fields."

He added: "Territorial integrity of countries and preservation of international borders is the inviolable principle of the Islamic Republic's foreign policy, which Iran has emphasized at various levels."

Armenian Ambassador, for his part, said: "Relations with Iran as a powerful country in the region are important for the Armenian government, and the two countries can have good relations with each other in various fields."
