During the meeting, the Tajik ambassador was told that providing misinformation and false information about terror attacks will only encourage Takfiri terrorists to escalate their acts of violence and attempt to create religious division and publicising it by certain circles and media will bring the country nothing but tension, insecurity and further acts of terror.
Condemning assassination of innocent bicyclists as an inhuman acts, Ghasemi said that no doubt that indifference towards Salafi-Takfiri thought and promoting extremism are plots of enemies against regional peace and stability.
The Foreign Ministry’s director general for Eurasian affairs also told Tajik ambassador that Iran is ready to share its experience and expertise with friendly countries to counter the extremist Takfiris with an aim of consolidating regional peace and stability and creating an atmosphere which will lead to regional states’ welfare and prosperity.
The Tajik ambassador, for his part, expressed regret over what has happened, saying that he would convey the Iranian government’s protests to the Tajik officials.
Earlier, the Iranian foreign ministry condemned killing of four foreign cyclists who were attacked by at least one assailant with a gun and knife after being run down by a vehicle in Southern Tajikistan, dismissing any connection to the crime.
"We condemn any terrorist act in different parts of the world, including the recent incident against foreign tourists in Tajikistan," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said on Tuesday.
He blasted the Tajik interior ministry's negative statement against Iran after the incident, and said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran categorically rejects any connection to this incident, Furthermore Iran categorically rejects Tajik allegations of a base on its soil for training of terrorists and assassins."
Iran also declares its readiness to cooperate with relevant Tajik officials to study the dimensions of this issue."
