Tehran (IP) - The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi expressed hope that as Iran seeks a world free of violence and extremism, the other countries also help to achieve this important goal.

Iran PressIran news: speaking in a press conference on Monday morning, Abbas Mousavi also confirmed that the Iranian president Hassan Rohani will travel to Japan soon.

Asked about President Rouhani's upcoming trip to Japan, and the fact that Japan has reduced its oil purchase from Iran, Mousavi said: "Iran and Japan have had friendly relations for a very long time and Japan is an important country in East Asia and Iran is an important country in West Asia, and no doubt the two countries will continue their friendly ties."

Mousavi added: "After Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe's recent trip to Tehran, President Rouhani has been invited to Tokyo and this trip is almost finalized and the exact date of the trip will be announced in due course."

The Foreign Ministry spokesman also called on all Iranians wishing to visit the United States to "exercise caution" given the way some Iranian citizens have been treated by US authorities, an example of which was the way Professor Massoud Soleimani, an Iranian researcher and scientist, was treated by US officials recently.
