Iran Press/ Iran News: Greek authorities last month impounded the Iranian-flagged Pegas, with 19 Russian crew members on board, near the coast of the southern island of Evia due to EU sanctions.
Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) stated on Saturday, a day after the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) captured two Greek ships.
“Two Greek ships have been impounded for now and the issue is under investigation based on evidence and documents. The necessary legal measures will be taken after the documents are completed,” the statement noted.
The PMO dismissed reports that vessels’ crews have been detained, highlighting that they are “safe and sound” and are on board the ships, protected according to international laws, and offered required services.
Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization underlined that Iran, as a member of the Maritime Labor Convention, 2006, is committed to its obligations toward all sailors, especially those who are Iran’s guests.
