Mohammad Javad Zarif

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in his latest tweet condemned the US' approach to sanctions and said that it can affect the foes and friends alike.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iran' Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in his latest tweet on Sunday said the US' approach to sanctions unintentionally reveals a pathological and reckless addiction describing it as a condition that renders no bounds or boundary to what the US may or may not do.

And this addictive behavior he warned, "would affect friends and foes alike unless collectively pushed back."

Earlier on December 19,  Iran's envoy at the UN General Assembly's Third Committee, Mohammad Hassani Nejad slammed the US economic sanctions against Iran saying they are a manifestation of despotism at the international level.

Speaking at the committee's session discussing human rights in Iran on Wednesday, Mohmmad Hassani Nejad said the US and sponsors of resolutions against Iran are misusing the UN and its agencies as a means to put Iranians under pressure.

Furthermore, on December 15, Chief Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Army Major General Seyyed Abdul-Rahim Mousavi stated that the enemy pursues the psychological war by exploiting people's livelihood and economic problems.

Also on December 19, Russia’s President said that US sanctions over the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline are not a friendly gesture and Russia will definitely respond to this action.

Vladimir Putin also stressed Moscow's readiness to extend the "New Start" pact, warning that the security of the international community would be shaken if the pact was not renewed.

US and Russian officials have been consulting on "New Start" since early this year, but the White House is yet to give a clear and definitive answer to extend the treaty which will expire in about two years from now.

Earlier in late September, the German government's coordinator for trans-Atlantic relations said despite Donald Trump's denial, the US will slap sanctions on companies active in the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project.
