Iran Press/Iran news: In his message on Tuesday, the Iranian president Hassan Rouhani congratulated Kassym-Jomart Tokayev who received 70-76 percent of votes on June 9 election, reported Iran Press.
The former Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev stepped down after thirty years in office in March. President Rouhani wished prosperity for the people of Kazakhstan and expressed hope that the bilateral relations would flourish during his tenure.
Kazakhstan is a northern neighbor of Iran in the Caspian Sea and plays an outstanding role in the political, security and cultural equations of the region.
Iran and Kazakhstan have common cultural, scientific and historical backgrounds.

Iran's President is scheduled to have a trip to Kyrgyzstan on Thursday to attend Shanghai summit on June 13-14 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
A high-ranking political delegation will accompany president Rouhani during the trip.
According to Kyrgyzstan's presidential office, presidents of Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, and Mongolia will be observers of the summit.
Participants will sign 20 regional and international documents.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and Indian Premier Narendra Modi will attend the event as permanent members of Shanghai.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), or Shanghai Pact is a Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance, the creation of which was announced on June 15, 2001 in Shanghai, China by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan; the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Charter, formally establishing the organization, was signed in June 2002 and entered into force on September 19, 2003.
