Iran Press/Iran News: On the session receiving Syrian Prime Minister Emad Khamis, Iran's Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri appreciated the Iraqi Parliament for approving a bill on expelling the US troops from Iraq, expressing hope that the movement is formed in other Islamic countries.
Jahangiri said to the Syrian delegation that the US created terrorist groups including ISIS, perpetrating big crimes across the region, particularly in Syria and Iraq.
Stressing that Iran stands by the Syrian nation and government like ever before, he noted that Iran will support Syria to protect its territorial integrity and sovereignty to maintain peace and security in the country.
The Syrian Prime Minister Emad Khamis said for his part that the US assassination of Lietenenat General Qasem Soleimani is the manifestation of the US plots.
He stressed Iran's right to defend itself against the enemies' aggression, noting that martyred Lieutenant General Soleimani was a symbol of resistance and security for all of the region's people.
Also attended the meeting, the Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem condoled Lieutenant General Qasem Suleimani's martyrdom, noting that the US is pursuing a covert war strategy during the Trump era.
"The United States is trying to impose poverty and starvation on nations through its unilateral sanctions," he said.
The Syrian Defense Minister Ali Abdullah Ayoub also expressed condolence over Lieutenant General Soleimani's martyrdom and described his funeral procession as a referendum in the resistance axis.
Martyred Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani shared all our victories in Syria, and while being the courageous and brave heroic commander, he was a very emotional person seeking peace.
Jahangiri and Khamis also stressed on expanding bilateral cooperation in different areas especially in the reconstruction of Syria.
