Iran Press/West Asia: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was officially welcomed by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani in the neighboring country’s capital, on Wednesday.
Holding a joint press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamad Shia al-Soudani on Wednesday, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian told reporters that 14 agreements of cooperation were signed between the two countries in his trip to Baghdad.
Pezeshkian said: "We need to implement security cooperation agreements between the two countries to counter the terrorists and enemies who targeted the stability and security of the region in the past."
He added that the weak points of the previous agreements were identified and were supposed to be corrected.
The Iranian President pointed to what was going on in Gaza and said that the regional developments uncovered the real face of the genocidal regime of Israel and its supporters who trumpet human rights in the world.
He stressed: "The crimes of the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip show the lies of the Western countries and international organizations about human rights."
The regime committed crimes against women, children, and the elderly and hit schools and hospitals with bombs made in the US and Europe.
Iraqi PM: Iran-Iraq Neighborhood Can Shore up Expanding Ties
The Iraqi Prime Minister, for his part, highlighted the depth and oldness of ties between the two countries and said that the neighborhood between Iran and Iraq could become a path to expand bilateral relations.
Mohammad Shia al-Soudani highlighted the technical capability of Iran and noted that the more the number of companies increases, the more it will be effective in the stability of the region.
"The border industrial zones that are set up in three provinces are very important, Maysan, Jassan and Basra provinces; Moreover, the economic city for which we have allocated two thousand meters of area is very important," he explained.
As with the regional developments, al-Soudani said: "We have repeatedly emphasized that we are against the expansion of tension and conflict against the sovereignty of countries, and it is necessary for the international community to fulfill its legal and moral duties and responsibilities [in this regard."
