Damascus (IP) - Iran's Minister of Justice arrived in Damascus late on Tuesday at the invitation of his Syrian counterpart to discuss the ways to strengthen and develop relations between the two countries, especially in the legal and judicial spheres.

Iran PressMiddle East: Minister of Justice of Syria Ahmed Awad Al Sayed officially welcomed Amin Hossein Rahimi at the Damascus International Airport.

Upon his arrival in Damascus, Rahimi said that relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Syria should be strategic and expanded at all levels.

"The people of the two countries have always been at the forefront in the fight against global arrogance, and in the Syrian war, Iran was with and sympathetic to the Syrian people and government," added Rahimi.

For his part, the Minister of Justice of Syria said, "The relations between the two countries are progressing, and there should be development in the judicial field as well."

Rahimi is supposed to meet with the speaker of the Syrian parliament, the ministers of justice, and foreign affairs of Syria, and sign the memorandum of understanding on legal and judicial cooperation between Tehran and Damascus.

The Minister of Justice will also meet with a group of Iranians living in Syria.
