Kazan (IP) - The Iranian Ambassador to Russia called on Moscow to explain about the arrest of a group of Iranian students in Kazan, Tatarstan.

Iran Press/Europe: After talking with Iran's Counsel General in Kazan, Kazem Jalali announced that the students were already free, yet with some bruises on their bodies including around their eyes.

Jalali said that the relevant authorities expressed surprise about the incident and have promised to begin a field investigation to punish the culprits causing such mistreatment practiced against the Iranian students.

During the meeting, it was supposed that visa issuance for the Iranians to Russia would be facilitated.

"Any kind of misbehavior with Iranian students is condemned and the relevant Russian authorities should be held accountable for such unfortunate events," he wrote on his X account.

The ambassador of Iran in Moscow expressed hope that the Russian authorities take measures to not let such misconducts with Iranian students in Kazan happen again.

On Friday morning, a group of students studying in Kazan's Federal University, with different nationalities including Uzbek, Chinese, Iranian, and Turkmen, went to the visa extension office in the university, where some of the students got into a dispute and police then were dispatched to the place.

The presence of the police and the insistence of the Iranian students led to the continuation of the dispute and the police beat them, and then arrested two Iranian students there.

As soon as the office of Iran's council general got noticed about the challenge, it took the necessary measures; the two Iranian students were freed and returned to their dormitory.
