Sana'a (IP): International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Representative met with Iranian Ambassador to Sanaa to discuss developments in Yemen which angered the self-proclaimed government of ousted and illegitimate Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.

Iran PressMiddle East: Hassan Irloo called on Katrina Raines to press the international community to lift the siege against the Yemeni people and stressed that it has affected all areas of Yemenis’ lives and has led to the biggest humanitarian crisis in the world.

He called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to reduce the severity of the humanitarian crisis in the war-torn country by putting pressure on the international community to end the siege of Yemen by Saudi-led coalition forces.

The representative of the Red Cross also stressed in this meeting that she will do her best to continue efforts to alleviate the humanitarian problems of the Yemeni people.

Earlier, Hisham Sharaf, the foreign minister of the National Salvation Government in Sanaa, met with Iranian Ambassador to Yemen Hassan Irloo and stressed Sanaa's positive response to any call for a just peace.

The Saudi-affiliated Yemen’s foreign ministry sent an official note to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) last night strongly protesting the meeting between Raines and Irloo, calling it a "mistake."

It also claimed that the Saudi-based was waiting for an explanation in this regard.

Meanwhile, the meeting was held in line with the effective and fruitful actions of the Iranian ambassador to Sana'a and the joint humanitarian efforts of Iran and the International Committee of the Red Cross to provide altruistic assistance and support to the oppressed people of Yemen.

UN agencies, including World Health Organization and UNICEF, have repeatedly warned that the Yemeni people continue to face famine and a humanitarian catastrophe that is unprecedented in the last century.
