(IP) – Iran's gas exports have grown by 62% over the past two years, according to OPEC.

Iran PressMiddle East: According to the latest OPEC statistics, Iran was the third-largest gas producer in the world in 2022.

Based on the Annual Statistical Bulletin released by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Iran's natural gas production increased by 2% from the previous year and reached 262.261 billion cubic meters. 

Iran produced 257.119 billion cubic meters of gas in the previous year.

Iran's gas production in 2021 recorded a 3% increase compared to 2020. 

Iran, in 2022, became the world's third-largest gas producer after the United States and Russia..

In 2022, US produced 1 trillion and 15 billion 698 million cubic meters of gas, with Russia producing 630.759 cubic meters of gas. 

According to the report, Russia's gas production has decreased by 12.3% compared to 2021.

China, Canada, Australia, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and Turkmenistan are ranked fourth to tenth in global gas production, respectively.
