Tehran (IP) - Following the irresponsible positions of UK, German and French officials regarding the reciprocal response of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Zionist regime's actions against Iranian nationals and interests, the ambassadors of these countries were summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Iran Press/Iran news: Following the irresponsible positions of three European countries regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran's response to the Israeli terrorist attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria on 1 April 2024, British Ambassador Simon Shercliff, French Ambassador Nicola Resch and German Ambassador Hans Odo, were summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Director General of Western Europe this morning.

In these meetings, the Director General of Western Europe, while pointing out the series of Israel's anti-human actions contrary to international laws and the attack on the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, which martyred a group of Iranian military advisors and Syrian civilians, stated: "Last night, the action of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran against the military bases of the Zionist regime was in the framework of exercising the inherent right of self-defense stipulated in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and in response to the series of crimes of the Zionist regime, especially the recent attack on the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

This Foreign Ministry official added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, while reaffirming its adherence to the principles and goals of the United Nations Charter as well as international law, is determined to resolutely defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests against any illegal use of force."

The Director General of Western Europe condemned the dual standard of these three European countries regarding the Israeli regime's air attack on the Iranian diplomatic facilities, and their disapproval of the exercise of the inherent right of the Islamic Republic of Iran in legitimate defense against the aggressor according to Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown with its constructive and effective actions that it has always sought to prevent the escalation of tension through the use of possible capacities and channels. Nevertheless, if the adventures of the Zionist regime continue, Iran will vigorously defend its sovereignty, security and peace of its people to protect its legitimate interests against any aggressive military actions and the use of force. 219
