Damascus (IP) - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has said that Israel will be punished and will receive the necessary response to its criminal act in attacking the Iranian diplomatic site.

Iran Press/ West Asia: Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad in the capital Damascus on Monday.

The Iranian foreign minister thanked his Syrian counterpart's presence in the office of the Iranian ambassador to Damascus immediately after the terrorist attack.

The strike proved that Israel is not committed to any international regulations and humanitarian law, he said.

"We regard Syria's security as our security," the top Iranian diplomat added.

He emphasized that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is nearing the end of his life.

The visit comes days after the Israeli terrorist attack on the Consular Section of the Iranian Embassy in the Mezzeh neighborhood in Damascus.

A senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, and his deputy General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi were among the seven Iranian martyrs of the terrorist attack on April 1.

Amir-Abdollahian paid a day-long visit to Muscat on Sunday and held talks with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi and Mohammed Abdulsalam, the senior representative of Yemen’s National Salvation Government.

In a post on his official X account, the Iranian foreign minister said the sides exchanged views about the improvement of Tehran-Muscat ties and Oman’s key role in the sanctions removal talks.

“We also discussed the latest developments in the region, including the continuation of the Zionists’ combined war crimes against the Palestinians and the need to take deterrent decisions,” he wrote.
