Muscat (IP) - Arriving in Muscat, Iran’s deputy foreign minister met Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi, discussing the latest mutual interest issues.

Iran Press/Middle East: Referring to Oman's important position in Iran's foreign policy, Abbas Araghchi, Iran's deputy foreign minister for political affairs, praised Muscat's role and balanced approach in dealing with regional and international developments.

The Omani foreign minister, for his part, stressed the need to further develop relations between the two countries, especially in the economic and trade fields.

Pointing to the importance of dialogue on regional issues, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi expressed hope that in the new international context, the region's countries will understand each other more and more.

In the second step of his regional tour, Araghchi arrived in Muscat on Monday morning for the seventh round of the Iran-Oman Joint Strategic Committee.

The Iran-Oman Joint Strategic Committee replaced the Political Consultative Committee in 2010 with the two countries' agreement.

Iran-Oman Joint Strategic Committee is formed to improve negotiations, decision-making, and roadmap determination for all sectors of the two countries' relations. So far, six rounds have been held alternately in the two countries' capitals at deputy foreign ministers' level.

The sixth round of the committee was held in December 2018 in Tehran.
