Iran's ambassador presented Letters of Credence to ECOWAS president

Tehran (IP)- The Iranian ambassador in Abuja presented his letter of introduction to the president of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and emphasized: "We are trying to strengthen Iran's relations with West Africa and this organization."

Iran Press/Africa: Iran's Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohammad Ali Bak, wrote on his Twitter account: "During a ceremony at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), I presented Letters of Credence to Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, the president of the organization."

The Iranian ambassador to Nigeria noted: "My effort is to strengthen my country's relations with West Africa and ECOWAS."The organization was created by the Treaty of Lagos on May 28, 1975, in Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria. ECOWAS was established to promote. The 15 members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, the Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo. 

The main goal of ECOWAS is to promote economic cooperation among member states to raise living standards and promote economic development. ECOWAS has also addressed some security issues by developing a peacekeeping force for conflicts in the region.
