Moscow (IP) - The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran stressed that Military cooperation between Iran and Russia would increase.

Iran PressEurope: Upon arriving at Moscow Airport, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said today, Sunday, "Military cooperation between Iran and Russia will increase Iran's new government."

Bagheri added: "The government of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has a special view on the East and Asian countries, and Iran's membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization took place at this time."

The Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces also said: "Certainly, the cooperation between the armed forces of Iran and Russia will be further developed."Major-General Mohammad Bagheri arrived at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport on Sunday.

He was officially welcomed by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Federation Sergei Istrakov.

Along with Istrakov, a group of high-ranking Russian generals, including Iran's ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, attended the welcoming ceremony.

Bagheri visits Moscow at the head of a high-ranking military delegation to develop cooperation with the Russian Federation.

Bagheri traveled to Moscow at the official invitation of the Russian Defense Minister General Sergei Shoigu.

Reza Khosravi Moqaddam, the military attaché of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Russian Federation, said Baqeri is scheduled to discuss and exchange views with the Russian officials on the development of cooperation and joint defense and military relations, the fight against terrorism, and investigating regional and international changes.

Before he visited Moscow, Bagheri visited Pakistan.
