Iran has the 4th place in honey production

The head of the Apiculture Society of Iran said that the country produces more than 90,000 tons of honey annually and is considered the fourth-largest producer of honey in the world after China, Turkey, and Argentina.

Iran Press/Iran News: The Head of the Apiculture Society of Iran Gholamhussein Tahmasebi said that the country has in excess of 8.4 million honey beehives, adding that domestic beekeeping industry and honey production has made significant development in terms of quantity since the Islamic Revolution (1979).

The official noted that some 8.1 million beehives, which are active across Iran, have international standards while 320,000 of them are run traditionally.

He also underlined that more than 85,000 bee-keeping farms (registered in the Agricultural Ministry) are producing honey in the country, which has created jobs for 100,000 people.

Provinces of East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Arbadil, Gilan, Mazandaran, Isfahan, and Fars are the major producers of honey in Iran.
