Tehran (IP) - The foreign ministers of Iran and Pakistan have expressed their condemnation of the desecration of the Holy Qur'an in Sweden and Denmark.

Iran PressIran News: It was emphasized that while freedom of speech is important, it should not be used to infringe on other freedoms. Such actions go against human dignity and rights.

Holding a telephone conversation with his Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said: "These measures have hurt the feelings of nearly two billion Muslims in the world.Amir-Abdollahian called Islamic countries to send a strong message to Western governments regarding the desecration of Islamic sanctities."

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan also announced his agreement with the proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran to carry out any cooperation and emphasized fighting against such actions.

"it is necessary for Islamic countries to put criminalization and the establishment of laws in this regard on the agenda," added the Pakistani top diplomat.

On Thursday, July 20, for the second time in the last few weeks,  Salwan Momika, an Iraqi-Swedish citizen, insulted the Holy Qur'an under Swedish police protection. 

Following, a far-right group in Denmark also burned a copy of the Qur'an in front of the Iraqi embassy in Copenhagen.
