Tehran (IP) – Iran's Foreign Minister said the joint economic commission of Iran and Malaysia will resume its work soon, after its pause since 2017.

Iran PressIran News:  Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian welcomed his Malaysian counterpart Zambry Abdul Kadir in Tehran on Monday.

Amir-Abdollahian told reporters that a prisoner exchange will happen between the two countries in the first step of which the Iranian and Malaysian female prisoners are to be exchanged.   

He condemned the recent desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden, Denmark, and the Netherlands and said the Islamic countries' foreign ministers have discussed the boycott of Swedish, Danish, and Dutch goods. 

The Iranian FM called on Denmark and Sweden to rethink their policy against Islam. 

Malaysia's Foreign Minister, for his part, considered his first visit to Tehran a positive step to shore up his country's partnership with Iran.

It also shows the commitment of the Malaysian government to strengthen Malaysia's relations with Muslim countries, including Iran. Zambry Abdul Kadir said the visit shows the commitment of the Malaysian government to strengthen relations with Muslim countries, including Iran.

Agriculture, health, tourism, and technology were among the areas the two countries sought to develop cooperation, he said. 

It is the first trip of Zambry Abdul Kadir to Iran since he assumed the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia in the winter of last year.
