Tehran (IP) - Stressing Sweden's court must not politicize the case of Hamid Nouri, Iran's Judiciary Spokesman called for the release of Iranian citizen from prison.

Iran PressIran news: Hamid Nouri, 61, an Iranian citizen, was arrested by Sweden's security forces on November 9, 2019, upon his arrival to Sweden to follow up on family issues.

His arrest at the Stockholm airport upon his arrival occurred in a scenario designed by the terrorist group MKO (Mojahedin-e-Khalq).

The trial of Hamid Nouri took place in November 2019. Nouri was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Swedish court while he had not been provided to read the Persian text of the verdict.

Nouri along with Iranian authorities have rejected those accusations as false and politically-motivated.

Attending his weekly press conference on Thursday, the Spokesman of Iran's Judiciary Massoud Setayshi told Iran Press that Hamid Nouri succeeded today to defend himself against the charges raised by the Sweden court.

Setayshi further noted: Famous Swedish lawyers pursue Hamid Nouri's case, they even collected a great deal of evidence against MKO claims.

In his remarks, Judiciary Spokesman underlined: The documents prove the MKO's crimes against Iranians and the MKO terrorist organization's close ties and cooperation with the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and the Baathist regime against people of Iran and Iraq during the war.

Masoud Setayshi concluded that Iran is hopeful that the Swedish court will come to sense and release Hamid Nouri.
