Iran, Japan underscore development of judicial relations

Tehran (IP) - In a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador, Iran's Deputy Minister of Justice stressed the need to develop and strengthen legal and judicial relations between the two countries.

Iran Press/Asia: Referring to the signing of the agreement on the transfer of convicts between Iran and Japan in 2016, Mahmoud Abbasi described it as a significant step in the legal and judicial relations between the two countries and added: "We are ready to raise the legal and judicial relations between the two countries to a higher level by concluding and signing agreements on legal and judicial assistance in civil, criminal and commercial matters and the extradition of offenders."

Referring to nearly a century of good political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries, Iran's Deputy Minister of Justice said: "It requires that we take greater steps to provide legal and judicial support between the two countries and support investment and trade relations between the two countries."

Addressing the Japanese ambassador, the Deputy Minister of Justice said: "We expect your government to play a role in preventing Israeli crimes in the international arena."

Welcoming the proposals, Japanese Ambassador Kazatoshi Ikawa said, I will send these proposals to Tokyo soon.

He pointed to the long-standing relations between the two countries. He added: "These relations have always been friendly and effective, and we welcome the expansion of legal and judicial relations."

The Japanese ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran expressed regret over the killing of Palestinian children and expressed hope that the war would end as soon as possible.
