Iran Press/ Iran News: On Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Mayo in New York at the sideline of the United Nations General Assembly and expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral relations between the two sides.
"160-year history of our ties shows the depth of relations between the two countries," the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed.
Amir-Abdollahian stressed that the new government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to pursue relations with Italy at the highest level.
Amir-Abdollahian also pointed out that there are many capacities for cooperation between the two countries in various economic and commercial fields such as industry, agriculture, science, technology, and tourism.
He also stressed that by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, the ground should increase the relationship between businessmen and the two countries' private sector.
The Italian Foreign Minister described the relations between the two countries as very important and stated that Italy seeks to regulate the consultations between the two sides and suggested that joint projects be defined focusing on the cultural aspects of relations and the ancient civilization of the two countries.
The two sides also discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan.
The Italian Foreign Minister thanked Iran for its efforts to help the remaining Italian nationals leave Afghanistan and announced its readiness to send aid to vaccinate Afghan refugees and asylum seekers in Iran.
