Baghdad (IP) - Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economy stated that the joint commission for economic cooperation between Iran and Iraq will be held soon.

Iran PressMiddle East: Mehdi Safari told reporters in Baghdad on Monday that a very important issue during his visit to Baghdad was agreed upon which was holding a joint economic commission between the two countries.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economy expressed hope that in the next few days, the Joint Commission on Cooperation between Iran and Iraq will be held.

By holding the commission, the trade between the two countries will be facilitated and a new chapter will be opened in Baghdad-Tehran cooperation.

The top diplomat also discussed the possibility of the establishment of joint industrial towns with the Iraqis to export their productions to the neighboring countries.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economy stated that the Shalamcheh-Basra railway was also discussed with the Iraqis and the Prime Minister and President of Iraq emphasized that the financial resources have been allocated in the 2023 budget.

Safari also said that Iraq will soon pay its debt to Iranian companies.

Mehdi Safari, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economy, met with President Abdul Latif Rashid and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani during his visit to Baghdad.
